THUNDER BAY – Officials from retail giant Costco were meeting with Thunder Bay officials recently. Sources at City Hall confirm the meeting. Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs has been advocating that Thunder Bay should have a Costco location in the city.
The Mayor has been on record wanting the store, the jobs, and the tax revenue. Hobbs has stated that there are thousands of dollars that leave Thunder Bay as local residents head south to Costco stores in Minnesota.
The move to bring the big-box Costco store to the city has been seen as a way to bring other major retailers to the city as well.
Locations discussed include Innova Park and a location near to the Thunder Bay International Airport.
