MARATHON – OPP in Marathon have solved a case reported on Saturday. The Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a suspect who is accused of stealing a vehicle that was found by police in a ditch on Highway 17 near the Pic River Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

An occupant of the vehicle was arrested at the scene while another person fled into the woods. The OPP had asked motorists not to pick up hitchhikers in the area.

That suspect was arrested later on Saturday with help from the OPP Emergency Response Team and canine unit.

A twenty-two-year-old British Columbia man now faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime, resisting a peace officer, failure to comply with recognizance and breach of probation. The other occupant is also facing charges.
