Silverado Canyon fire continues to burn California
THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Wild Fire risk in Northern Ontario ranges from low to high, but in the Southwest United States extreme heat has fueled wildfire across California.
In the Corona area of California, fires are raging with the weather calling for highs today near 105F with humidity below 20% and heading as low as 12%. The hot temperatures are expected to last into next week.
Fire crews in California are continuing to battle a 1,600-acre brush fire in Silverado Canyon of the Cleveland National Forest. Mandatory evacuations were ordered Friday evening. Officials said high temperatures made the fire fight difficult.
The U.S. Forest Service is being assisted by multiple agencies. Several homes are scattered throughout the remote area, however, no structures have been threatened by the fire, officials said.
