THUNDER BAY – Immigration has built much of Thunder Bay and almost all of Western Canada. Today, people from around the world come to Canada to make their homes.
Federal Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Chris Alexander spoke to a Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce audience at Lakehead University today addressing the subject of immigration.

The Minister shared the reasons for several of the federal government’s changes to the programs that the Ministry of Citizen and Immigration have implemented.
The Minister says that Canada is exceeding its goals in bringing immigrants to Canada.
Minister Alexander touches on the importance of Canada standing up to what he said is “A new form of aggression” in the Ukraine. Canada has joined a NATO coalition to protect freedom in the Ukraine.
The foreign worker program that the Ministry has evolved has been a focus, “We are committed to keeping Canada’s doors open,” stated Minister Alexander.
