Wab Kinew Shares Message on Importance of Education

(Full Video Will be added to THUNDER BAY – Wab Kinew was the special guest speaker in Thunder Bay at the Maadaadizi Orientation hosted by Lakehead University, Confederation College and Oshki-Pimache-O-Win.

The keynote speech offered insight into the path forward, and how the Anishinawbe people are increasingly moving forward.

Kinew opened with music, and combined traditional drumming with modern rap.

In his talk to the Confederation College, Lakehead University and students, his message was to not only get a degree, but to also focus and work toward getting a specialized degree.

Moving forward there are many who see Kinew as a future leader of the Assembly of First Nations.

Speaking on leadership, Kinew expressed that to him, the leader, or the chief should be the poorest person in the community. He spoke on the importance of a leader making sure that all of the people are fed, and all of the people are housed before the leader.

The message was very well received in Thunder Bay by the audience of several hundred people.
