Chief of Police on Right Track
THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay’s former Chief of Police Karl Ratz was enjoying City Hall Sounds on Thursday. Talking with NetNewsLedger, the former Chief says that the issues that police face today in Thunder Bay are the same issues that his officers faced when he was Chief.
Help Not Handcuffs
“People need help, not handcuffs,” stated former Chief Ratz. Police have been put, in many cases into the position of being social workers, because in many cases society wants someone to deal with the problems in society.
“Poverty sucks”, said Ratz, and says that solving the issues at the root of crime is important.
Former Chief Ratz says that current Thunder Bay Chief of Police J.P. Lesveque is taking the right approach to the issues.
The former Chief was at City Hall Sounds on Thursday enjoying the fiddle music from Kam Valley Fiddlers and especially his Grandson Alex who was playing for the large crowd.
