THUNDER BAY – BREAKING – Thunder Bay Police contained an area around Riverside Drive and Central Avenue in regards to an American murder suspect. A male thought to have been Lyle HOFFMAN of Minneapolis Minnesota was spotted by police in that area just before 6:00 p.m. this evening. A vehicle with a Minnesota plate was also spotted parked on Riverside Drive.
The area was contained as a safety precaution given the fact the Minnesota fugitive was considered armed and dangerous. Police in the area had been on alert that the fugitive may have crossed into Canada.
At approximately 9:00 p.m. police were able to confirm that the man spotted in the Riverside Drive area was not the wanted male. The vehicle is not connected to murder investigation in Minnesota.
The area is now clear there is no longer a safety risk. Traffic is now reopened on Central Avenue.
