Will a Thunder Bay Zombie Top a Moose Cree Zombie?

THUNDER BAY – Wiggins Productions will once again be teaming up with the Zombie Apocalypse Survival Training Association (Z.A.S.T.A.) to host the 3rd annual Zombie Walk, Saturday, August 23 at Marina Park. Zombie walkers (and their victims) are also invited to the Zombie Rawk after party at Black Pirates Pub (215 Red River Road) for a night of live music featuring local rock bands.

A zombie walk (also known as zombie crawl or zombie mob) is an organized public gathering of people who dress up in zombie costumes and makeup. Participants make their way around the city streets and are encouraged to remain in character as zombies, communicating only in a manner consistent with zombie behavior. This may include grunting, groaning and moaning calls for ‘brains’. Zombie walks are a way for horror movie fans to get together and share their love of zombie culture in a creative and fun environment.

THE WALK – Hordes of brain and rib hungry zombies will gather at the Baggage Building Arts Centre in Marina Park next to Bight Restaurant at 7pm. From there, they will make their way through the streets of downtown Port Arthur to the centre of this year’s Ribfest at the OLG casino parking lot on Park Avenue. Walk begins at 8pm. All-ages welcome.

THE RAWK – After the walk, participants and on-lookers (both living and undead) are invited to Black Pirates Pub for the Zombie Rawk, an after party of ghoulish proportions. The night will feature live entertainment from local bands, including The Married Singlemen (rock), Don’t You(,) Mean People? (post-rock) and Nick Sherman (folk-rock). Doors at 10pm, show at 11pm. Cover is $5. Age of majority required. For more information, visit Facebook.com/TBshows or Facebook.com/WigginsProductions.

Scotia Waddell of Elegant Embodiments Makeup Effects will be hosting a special zombie makeup & DIY special effects workshop on August 20 at the Baggage Building Art Centre. The workshop will focus on Zombie Walk essentials like how to make blood, how to create special effects wounds, how to apply makeup for bruises and cuts, costume creations and more. Workshop begins at 6pm at a cost of $15 per person.
