Collision in Dryden Closes Highway

DRYDEN – A collision between a motorcycle and an SUV have sent the rider to hospital with what police say are significant injuries.

Police in Dryden are attending to the accident on the Trans-Canada near the Dryden OPP detachment.

The accident happened this morning at about 8:30AMCDT (09:30EDT) The highway at Bedworth Road in Dryden has been closed in both directions. Officers remain at the seen and traffic is being re-routed.

Dryden Deputy Fire Chief McMillan stated, “The role was pretty much assisting Northwest EMS with patient packaging and assistance in shipping them to Dryden Regional Hospital. At the time we arrived, the motor vehicle — which was the motorcycle — was in the eastbound lane. It appeared to be heading towards Thunder Bay. The SUV appeared to be pulling out of the Parr Avenue, Bedworth Road intersection heading westbound towards Dryden”.

The Ontario Provincial Police state that “The male driver of the motorcycle suffered significant injuries in the collision. The driver of the S-U-V was a woman, and she was the lone occupant of the vehicle”.
