THUNDER BAY – CRIME NEWS – Thunder Bay Police are clarifying earlier reports on the Canada Day Homicide on Donald Sreet. TBPS report, PPrevious media releases regarding the July 1, 2014 Aggravated Assault and subsequent death of 52 year old Christopher ADAMS, did not include the fact that two of the four persons of interest in the incident were taken into custody shortly after the assault.
Twenty-one-year old Becky Re-Anna Mamakwa and thirty-one-year old Carl Spencer Rai were arrested at 130 May Street by Uniformed Patrol Officers following the assault of Christopher Adams at the corner of May and Donald Streets. Both were originally charged with Aggravated Assault and remain in custody.
On July 8, 2014 the victim Christopher Adams died. Currently these charges are being reviewed by the Criminal Investigations Branch, the Coroner’s Office, and the Crown Attorney.
Thunder Bay Police say that they regret that this information was not released earlier due to a breakdown in internal communications.The investigation is ongoing. Two other male persons of interest in the death of Christopher Adams are still being sought. Adams had been a resident of Thunder Bay for the past three years.
