THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Border Cats opened the second half of the Northwoods League season with a come from behind 5-4 win over the Blue Anchors in Alexandria Wednesday night.
As the weather heats up, the Cats are cooking, the team has won nine of its last thirteen games.
Wednesday night, the Cats scored all of their runs in the 6th inning, erasing a 3-0 Blue Anchors lead.
The Columbia University connection of Jordan Serena and Robb Paller both collected two hits with Paller’s two-run single driving in the tying and go-ahead runs. Gunner Kay pitched five innings for his second win.
Ben Allison tossed three scoreless innings in relief and Tyler Lequire allowed one run, but wiggled out of 9th inning jam to nail down the save.
The Cats and Blue Anchors close out the two-game series Thursday at Knute Nelson Memorial Park at 7:35EDT.
The Border Cats are back home July 4th and 5th taking on the Willmar Stingers – Tickets are on sale at the stadium.
