THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Thunder Bay Border Cats knocked off the North Division leading Willmar Stingers 6-5 on Friday night at Tbaytel Park.
Ryan Powers picked up his first win as he struck out six over six innings of work. Thunder Bay native Lucas Scocchia got the final three outs for his first save.
Tyler Rolland and Jordan Serena both had three hits while Nick Studer reached base four times with two hits, two walks and also drove in two runs.
The Cats have now won six of their last eight games.
The Cats play Saturday and Sunday In Mankato before returning home to face the Duluth Huskies Monday night with a special start time of 7:35pm. There will be post-game fireworks to celebrate the Canada Day holiday.
