THUNDER BAY — It will be at least until the end of the day before travel on Highways 17 will be back to normal.
The Ministry of Transportation advises the motoring public that Highway 17 is closed at the Jackfish River Bridge to facilitate emergency bridge repairs. The Jackfish River Bridge is located on Highway 17, approximately 13 kilometres east of Nipigon.
This closure is required to ensure the safety of road users and construction workers while emergency bridge repairs are completed. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to complete the repairs as soon as possible. We anticipate the highway will reopen by late this evening, Thursday, June 26, subject to an engineering review of the bridge.
Motorists may utilize Highway 11 and Highway 631 as an alternate route between Nipigon and White River.
For the latest information on highway closures, the public can call 511, MTO’s Road Information Line or check www.ontario.ca/511.
