THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Protecting school children is critical, and making the right decisions have led to Thunder Bay Fire Rescue awarding the leadership in two local schools the first ever School Fire Safety Awards.
Fire Chief John Hay presented the first ever School Fire Safety awards to two local schools today. The awards recognize the school and respective Principal or Vice Principal who have shown leadership and commitment to promoting and practicing Fire Safety to a high degree and Fire Code compliance.
The inaugural awards were presented Vice Principal Shannon Jessiman-MacArthur of Hyde Park Public School and Principal J.P Tennier of Pope John Paul II Senior Elementary School.
“Thunder Bay Fire Rescue hopes these awards encourage continued support and implementation of fire safety practices in other schools,” said Fire Chief John Hay. “Principals Jessiman-MacArthur and Tennier provide a great example to all schools and institutions in the community.
