KENORA – Crime News – On June 11, 2014, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Northwest Region Crime Unit executed a search warrant in Kenora, Ontario which resulted in one man facing several charges stemming from an investigation into child pornography.
The search warrant resulted in police seizing all electronic devices in possession of the accused. This investigation is ongoing and police encourage anyone with any information about this matter to contact Detective Constable Jason Gatto at 1-888-396-6277.
Twenty-five (25) year-old Cyrus Simeon Rae, formerly of Sandy Lake First Nation, was charged with two counts of Possession of Child Pornography, three counts of Luring a Child, and three counts of Breach of Probation Order to not contact anyone under fifteen (15) years of age. Rae has been remanded into custody following a court appearance on June 12, 2014 in Kenora, Ontario. Rae is still in custody and his next court date is unknown at this time. The NAPS Northwest Region Crime Unit is located in Sioux Lookout and serves 19 Nishnawbe-Aski Nation communities from the Manitoba border to the Central Region communities including and in between the Webequie First Nation and Eabametoong First Nation.
