Technical Information

Description of Weather System: A low pressure system will be active in northwestern Ontario Thursday bringing with it rainfall in the amounts of 20-30 mm with an additional risk of thunderstorms that could have localized areas possibly receiving 60+ mm throughout the period. The main track of this system is in a line from Lake of the Woods – Kenora – Dryden – Sioux Lookout and further northeast to Pickle Lake and Lansdowne House.

Description of Current Conditions: The water levels in the Lacs Des Mille Lacs and Shebandowan water systems are currently high and would rise if significant rainfall occurs in the area. Should the low pressure system move more easterly than is forecasted significant rainfall could be expected in this area.

The Public should be aware that high water levels and flows may impact water crossings and that flooding in low laying areas may persist for an extended period of time. Residents may wish to take action to secure and protect property in flood prone or vulnerable areas. Caution is advised around fast moving creeks and rivers.
