THUNDER BAY – Are you looking for a way to support a great local charity, and get a clean car out of the deal? Then mark your calendars for this Thursday (June 5th) when the Sir Winston Churchill Shelter House Relay Team will be having a car wash at North End Community Centre (954 Huron Avenue).
The event will start at 4:30pm and go until 7:30pm, and it is by donation.
Shelter House is a fantastic organization to support; they have been working in our community since 1980, and have evolved from a very basic emergency shelter, to a full-service centre, with daily meals, clothing assistance, temporary shelter, a day facility, and employment services.
The annual Shelter House Relay is a one-day event on June 7th at Marina Park, and is one of Shelter House’s biggest fundraisers of the year. This year the relay is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. Despite the name, it’s actually not a relay. Instead it is a day full of fun events like a karaoke contest, tug-of-war, a scavenger hunt, and many more activities. Any business, organization, or school can form a team, and leading up to the event teams hold fundraisers.
