THUNDER BAY – NEWS – The Nor’Wester Mountain Escarpment Protection Committee, Fort William First Nation Neebing Ward, and the Township of Neebing are joining forces to host an election forum on Monday June 1st.
The NMEPC have been fighting the proposed Horizon Wind Project on the Nor’Wester Mountains and Loch Lomond watershed since Sept 2009. The group has worked side by side with Fort William First Nation and residents of the Municipality of Neebing on a common goal to protect this from development.
The 20,000 acres of land and water this Project is situated on has been protected for in access of 100 years. There have never been any meaningful environmental studies on the area and certainly never any contemplated industrialization of it.
You are aware of the Health issues, the Property Devaluation issues, the Environmental issues, the Community unwilling host issues and the First Nations Treaty Rights and Traditional Land Rights. There are solutions and an alternative willing host community.
The NMEPC is pleased to co-host with FWFN and residents of Neebing Ward and Municipality of Neebing a TOWN HALL MEETING with the Candidates of Thunder Bay – Atikokan Riding.

The NMEPC considers it important that the public has an opportunity to listen to the candidates. Many residents have questions about energy costs, coal plant conversion and the proposed Horizon Wind Project on the Nor’Wester Mountains.
