Rainfall WarningTHUNDER BAY -Update – Environment Canada has a Rainfall Warning in Effect.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park
  • Upsala – Raith

Rainfall – overnight to morning Sunday.

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A slow moving cold front located near the Manitoba-Ontario border will move into northwestern Ontario this morning and then become nearly stationary in the vicinity of Quetico Provincial Park later today into Sunday morning. Several rounds of heavy showers are expected along this front. The showers will weaken this morning across Seine River and Ignace areas then intensify this afternoon with a few thunderstorms and continue into tonight. The showers will begin this morning over Atikokan and Upsala areas and intensify this afternoon or tonight with thunderstorms expected. 60 to 80 mm of rain can be expected before tapering off Sunday morning across the regions. Locally higher amounts are possible due to thunderstorms.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
