Smoke Detectors Save Lives
THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue reports that “A Merrill Street tenant and an Arundel Street tenant have both been ticketed for smoke alarm violations under the Ontario Fire Code. The tickets stem from separate incidents in late April and early May. Each ticket carries a fine of $235”.
“Smoke alarms are required to be installed on every storey of your home and outside all sleeping areas,” said Fire Chief John Hay. “We have a zero tolerance policy regarding smoke alarm compliance. A working smoke alarm will provide you with the time needed to escape in a fire emergency.”
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue encourages all residents to check their smoke alarms and to practice their home fire escape plan.
