THUNDER BAY – POLITICS – The path to renewed prosperity in Ontario is paved with jobs – one million new jobs. Earlier this week, Ontario PC leader Tim Hudak unveiled our Million Jobs Plan – our plan to create jobs, balance the budget and get our province back on track.
Our Million Jobs Plan is a chance to turn the page on the last decade of McGuinty-Wynne government and create jobs and opportunity.
Everything starts with jobs. Families in Thunder Bay and throughout our ridings deserve new and better jobs. New jobs provide our neighbours steady cheques and a sense of pride. New jobs also allow our community to afford the things that matter most – like health care, a good education for our children, attention for those with special needs, and comfort and security for our elderly.
We owe it to ourselves, and we owe it to them.
We need a Premier who believes that what the oilsands are to Alberta and potash is to Saskatchewan, the Ring of Fire can be to Ontario.
Returning Ontario to the status of the Number 1 mining jurisdiction in Canada will require a Premier who will end the uncertainty and indecision around prospecting, developing and mining.
Tim Hudak will be that Premier. He understands the North and sees the Ring of Fire for what it is.
And that’s an economic opportunity of a lifetime.
This campaign is a time to launch that opportunity for Ontario. The choice is clear, and so is our message. Now is the time to get Northern Ontario back on track.
Now is the time to take the Ring of Fire from a spot on the map of potential to the world’s map of operating mines
Unlike the Liberals or the NDP, we have a plan to clear the path to harvesting the vast resources of chromite, copper, nickel and zinc.
Without question, as this election moves forward, the Liberals and the NDP carry the heavy can for why the Ring of Fire remains so dormant. The Liberals dithered and the NDP propped them up while they did.
Only new leadership and a real plan will deliver the promise of the Ring of Fire. Only new leadership and a real plan will create one million new jobs and get Ontario working better.
There is no ambiguity in our Million Jobs Plan. We will make the decisions necessary and, when it comes down to brass tacks, the decisions made will require only one question to be answered: Will it create jobs?
We deserve better. Jobs and growth are what Thunder Bay and our region deserves. It’s what Northern Ontario deserves.
