OTTAWA – Federal Aboriginal Affairs Minister Valcourt has put a hold on Bill C-33, the controversial federal education legislation that the government had moved. “Following today’s second reading vote, any further consideration of this legislation will be put on hold until the AFN clarifies its position,” states the Minister’s spokesperson.
The move comes following the resignation by Assembly of First Nations Chief Shawn Atleo who stated he was a “lightning rod” for opposition to the legislation.
