THUNDER BAY – A washout on the highway north to Armstrong has claimed a life. “A vehicle was northbound on highway 527, when a section gave way as the driver drove over and passed the area”, state the OPP. “Shortly thereafter, a second northbound vehicle approached the washout. The driver did not realize that the area had been washed away. Subsequently, drove into the washout and the vehicle became engulfed in flames.”
The Ministry of Transportation reports that the washout is likely to close the road for up to a week.
The name of the deceased has not be released pending notification of next of kin.
