Wasaya Flight from Sachigo Lake

THUNDER BAY – An incident onboard a Wasaya Airways flight from Sachigo Lake has Transport Canada investigating. The door reportedly came ajar on the Wasaya flight shortly after takeoff from the airport in Sachigo Lake. The aircraft suffered minor damage.

The aircraft, a Beech 1900D is an 18 passenger aircraft. The aircraft can carry a payload of 4,800 pounds.

The incident was one of two reported incidents that Wasaya had over the past twenty-four hours. Another flight from Fort Hope was reported unable to continue its flight.

Wasaya Airways has undergone some scrutiny from Transport Canada after the airline received reports from the TSB on some of the company’s practices.

Wasaya Flight Flight WT985 had passengers very worried when the door on the Aircraft came open just after takeoff from Sachigo Lake First Nation on April 24 2014.Tom Morris was unavailable for comment on the latest situation.
