Snow Drawing Bead on Thunder Bay
THUNDER BAY – WEATHER A winter storm is bearing down on Thunder Bay. Environment Canada is forecasting that “an approaching low pressure system will bring a late season snowfall to areas near Lake Superior tonight and Friday. Light rain or wet snow will move into areas near Lake Superior late this afternoon”.
The weather service says that “Precipitation is then expected to change to snow at times heavy this evening and continue into Friday morning. Snow should taper off Friday afternoon. A total snowfall accumulation of 15 to 25 centimetres appears likely”.
The weather is likely to hammer roads again making roadways slippery.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required, so stay tuned to your local media or Weatheradio. Email reports of severe weather issues to newsroom@netnewsledger, and to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca. You can also tweet with the hashtag #ONStorm.
