Thunder Bay Police Report Quiet Night
THUNDER BAY – CRIME NEWS – Thunder Bay Police report, “It was a relatively uneventful evening for Thunder Bay Police Saturday night”. There were nine assaults, two sexual assaults, and one weapons offense.
Thunder Bay Police report however on a 55 year old local Thunder Bay man who seems intent on repeating his dangerous driving behaviour.
It has been less than two weeks since police were called to awaken the same male at a local south side restaurant where he had passed out in the drive through, at that time he was arrested for care and control and failure to stop at the scene of an accident from earlier in the evening.
At approximately 11:00PM EDT on the 19th of April, Thunder Bay Police officers attended in the 2800 block of Victoria Avenue East to the scene of a hit and run.
While the marked police unit was on scene conducting the investigation, the accused proceeded to drive back approximately 30 minutes later to speak to police. It was at this time while speaking with officers that they determined he was in fact impaired by alcohol, he was subsequently arrested and is facing charges of
- Impaired Driving Over .80
- Disqualified operation of a motor vehicle
- Failing to stop at the scene of an accident
He will be held for court on Tuesday, April 22nd.
There was a flurry of activity on social media on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. There was a mis-understanding about a case where an individual was apprehended by police over a shoplifting incident. While authorities have not commented or reported, social media reports had the man reportedly having died after being arrested.
Those reports, of the individual passing away are not true. Other details are still pending.
