THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Police report that the accident at Victoria Avenue East and May Street South was a hit and run.
Thunder Bay Police responded the the collision at the intersection of May St and Victoria Ave at about 6:45PM EDT Monday Evening.
The silver Chrysler sedan, that was reportedly driven by a male, was travelling westbound on Victoria Avenue when the driver went through the red light at a high rate of speed. The sedan struck a southbound GMC pick-up.
In a media statement, Police report “The pick-up then was pushed, out of control, and struck the building on the south west corner. Both vehicles were substantially damaged. The male driver of the truck was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries”.
The driver of the sedan and a male passenger fled the scene in opposite directions on May Street.
Descriptions of these males are:
1) Male, 120 kg/250 lb, 183 cm/ 6′, 25-35 years of age with short hair, wearing a grey hoodie
2) “smaller” male also in a grey hoodie and black jacket.
Police would like to speak to any witness that may have information about the events of the collision or the identity of the occupants of the sedan.
