MOOSENEE – Residents are getting frustrated in Moosenee. The water in the community has been off for what is now the third day.

Today the Town of Moosenee says they are getting closer:

TESTING THROUGHOUT THE DAY: There will be occasions during the next 24 hours when the water service is restored to certain areas of town, as staff try to locate the break. RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES MUST SHUT YOUR WATER OFF — PLEASE DO NOT TURN YOUR TAPS ON DURING THIS INTERMITTENT TESTING! If you are taking water during these tests, we cannot isolate the area of the break. YOUR COOPERATION IS CRITICAL.

PLEASE, AS WE ASKED — ensure that water to your home is shut off, to ensure the flow of water is maintained in the main water lines, so the break can be more easily identified. Our resident’s cooperation will be essential to restoring water service in a timely manner. Remember a Boil Water Advisory is in effect. If you cannot shut off your valves, please do not run your water taps while the testing is in progress, or until you are notified that water to your area has been restored. Thank you for your cooperation.

You will be notified when Water Service has been restored. Until that time, we will continue testing certain areas of town. PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR WATER.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY AND PROCEDURE: You are advised to boil water for at least FIVE (5) minutes before consuming it. The Base & The Airport must continue to Boil Water.
ACCESS TO DRINKING WATER: Residents can go to the Water Treatment Plant on Saturday between 12pm and 4pm, to pick up Treated Drinking Water that does not need to be boiled. Residents must bring their own CLEAN drinking water containers to fill at the Water Treatment Plant. If your container is dirty, the drinking water you fill it with will no longer be safe and clean.

NORTHERN STORES: Northern will be open between 10am and 2pm on Saturday.

TIME WATER WILL BE TURNED ON: Dependent upon repair work. A Boil Water Advisory will be in effect when the water is restored.DRINKING WATER – As always, you should have a 72 hour emergency supply of food and drinking water in the event of an emergency. We suggest you use this drinking water supply.
NEXT UPDATE: will be late this afternoon unless conditions change significantly.
