THUNDER BAY – Weather – Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning.
Major winter storm with freezing rain today into Tuesday.
A low pressure system developing over Nebraska is expected to track northeast and intensify into a major winter storm as it reaches Lake Superior tonight. Snow will begin this morning then change to freezing rain and ice pellets this afternoon. A prolonged period of freezing rain is expected before changing back to snow early Tuesday morning. Manitouwadge – Hornepayne will see the freezing rain change to rain near midday Tuesday.
The weather system continues to move toward Northwestern Ontario.
Air Travel Update: Wasaya Airlines shares, “We would like to advise all our passengers traveling today of possible delays, misconnects, and cancellations due to major winter storm warnings bringing freezing rain and heavy snow for much of Northwestern Ontario”.

School Buses have been cancelled for the day on Monday, March 31 in all areas (except Pickle Lake).
