Sault Ste Marie PoliceSAULT STE MARIE – Crime News – The Sault Ste Marie Police offer two daily updates on crime and criminal activity in their community.

This effort generates greater public awareness of what is happening in the community and contributes to greater public safety.

Over the past twenty-four hours, SSM Police report, “On March 22 2014 at approximately 1:00 p.m. City Police were called to investigate a 2 car accident at the intersection of Old Garden River Rd and Second Line East. As part of their investigation into this accident the City Police is requesting the public’s assistance in locating any witnesses to this accident. If you have any information please call Cst. Poderys at 705-949-6300 ext 383.”

A 38 year old male was arrested last night and charged with assaulting his common law partner. It is alleged an argument between the two escalated to where the accused punched the female victim in the head and ribs. The male will be appearing in Weekend and Statutory Holiday Court (WASH) this morning.

In another domestic incident reported to City Police last night, a 44 year old male was arrested for assault, breaching conditions of his recognizance and probation. It is alleged the male assaulted his female girlfriend by striking her in the face area. At the time of this incident the accused had been drinking, which he is on conditions not to be, and also he was not to communicate or associate with her. He will be appearing in WASH Court as well.
