The Cry of a Newborn Baby is the Cry of Hope
THUNDER BAY – Diversity Thunder Bay hosted the 8th Annual Celebration Breakfast this morning. To a packed audience of over 450 people, Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish shared a message of hope.
“We can’t say no, until we ask! There is hope in this world,” shared Dr. Abuelaish.
Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish
Dr. Abuelaish, a three time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, known as the ‘Gaza Doctor’, the message was one of overcoming hate, overcoming obstacles, and overcoming tragedy.
The Doctor has rose over tragedy when his three daughters and his niece were killed when an Israeli artillery attack hit his home in the Gaza Strip.
Instead of reacting with anger and hate, Dr. Abuelaish wrote “I Shall Not Hate”, an international best seller.
Tina Tucker, the Breakfast Planning Committee Chair stated, “In every community, where there is racism and discrimination, we need to begin to build bridges through understanding, compassion, respect and communication”.
That message was delivered, straight from the heart in an emotional address to a full house audience whoc came out at 7:00 to attend the breakfast.
The Respect Award was presented today in Thunder Bay to Constable Larry Baxter of the Thunder Bay Police Service.
The video of Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish’s speech will be up shortly.
