THUNDER BAY – Sports – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced today that Fort Frances Lakers goaltender Devin Tappenden has been named the Gongshow Gear Inc. performer of the month for February.
In eight appearances last month, the 19-year-old native of Markham, Ont., posted an impressive 8-0 record, including five victories on the road, helping Fort Frances wrap-up the SIJHL’s regular season title along the way.
Tappenden recorded a solid 1.88 goals-against average along with a .927 save percentage in February, in those eight games played, while allowing two or fewer goals against in each of his past six starts.
He will be recognized on-ice prior to an upcoming home game with a gift package courtesy of Gongshow Gear Inc., the SIJHL’s official lifestyle hockey apparel partner.
