THUNDER BAY – Snowfall amounts up to 30 cm and blowing snow today, that is the word from Environment Canada. The winter storm is impacting the city, but not shutting down all the services.

An intense winter storm over Lake Superior will continue to move north towards Eastern Hudson Bay today giving snow heavy at times today. Total snowfall amounts of 25 to 30 cm of snow are forecast except in the Wawa – White River – Pukaskwa region, where near 15 cm of snow and some freezing rain are expected.

Dangerous winter driving conditions are expected. Visibility may be reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow, and will also be significantly reduced due to blowing snow in strong and gusty northerly winds.

Travellers are urged to adjust or postpone their plans accordingly. If travel is necessary, check highway conditions and possible highway closures before departing.
