Snow Zone Returns to Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – Weather – Thunder Bay is under a special weather statement. Environment Canada is stating that an Alberta clipper will track into Minnesota Thursday morning and then continue southeastward into lower Michigan by Friday morning. Snow associated with this system will spread over Western Lake Superior early Thursday morning.

10 – 15 CM of Snow for Thunder Bay

Though Lake Superior is mostly ice covered, added moisture from the lake is expected to boost total snowfall amounts slightly along the northwestern and northern shores into the 10 to 15 cm range. A snowfall warning (issued when 15 cm falls within 12 hours) is not expected but conditions will be monitored closely.

The snow is expected to taper off Friday morning.

Travellers are urged to exercise caution as heavy snow and blowing snow could suddenly reduce visibilities.
