THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a fire on Jean Street overnight. The vacant house was engulfed in flame. The cold weather made it a challenge for fire crews, but the fire was brought under control.
Cold weather presents a challenge for fire fighting crews. As water freezes, not only does it challenge the fire fighters, who can get wet and cold, but also equipment that can freeze.
In this fire, you can see how the wind and spray from the fire hoses have made the burnt home almost picturesque.
There was no one in the home, and no one was injured.
The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office will be investigating.
