NAPS Nishnawbe Police ServiceTHUNDER BAY – The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) have been going after illegal firearms. As part of an ongoing campaign, on January 10, 2014, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Mattagami Detachment, Guns & Gangs Unit, assisted by the NAPS Drug Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police South Porcupine Drug Unit executed a search warrant at a residence located in the Mattagami First Nation Territory.

As a result of this search, police seized two (2) sawed-off rifles, one (1) sawed-off shotgun and several types of ammunition. This incident is still under investigation and an update will be released once charges have been made.

Mattagami First Nation is located approximately 112 kilometres southwest of Timmins, Ontario.
