CONSTANCE LAKE – Legal News – On January 8, 2014, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit successfully executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant in Constance Lake First Nation.
With the assistance of NAPS Constance Lake Detachment, Criminal Intelligence, Canine, Guns & Gangs, and Emergency Response Team, members conducted a search at a local residence and as a result seized a quantity of Hydromorphone and Oxycodone prescription pills along with four hundred thirty-five ($435.00) dollars in currency. The estimated street value of the seized drugs in the remote northern community is approximately one thousand seven-hundred fifty ($1,750.00) dollars.
Twenty-seven (27) year old Sharbel SUTHERLAND of Constance Lake First Nation has been charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. SUTHERLAND has been released on conditions and he will next appear in court in Hearst, Ontario on March 19, 2014.
