50th Anniversary of St. Paul’s United Church in Thunder Bay
THUNDER BAY – Entertainment – Consortium Aurora Borealis and St. Paul’s St. United Church are pleased to present a special concert entitled “King of Instruments”, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the church’s splendid Casavant pipe organ.
Come and enjoy an exciting and memorable evening as guest concert organist William Maddox of Toronto lets out all the stops and shows off this instrument in great style, playing virtuosic toccatas and more. He will demonstrate the organ’s enormous range of sound and tone colour, from incredibly quiet right up to most mighty. The varied programme includes music by J. S. Bach, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Widor, some amusing moments, and a chance for the audience to sing along on two grand hymns of praise.
This concert takes place on Tuesday (*not Saturday), January 7, 2014, 8:00PM at St. Paul`s United Church, 349 Waverley Street, Thunder Bay, with an informative pre-concert talk at 7:30PM by Susan Marrier.
There will be a church-sponsored reception afterwards, to which all are welcome. The church is handicapped-accessible (elevator). Admission: $15 adults, $10 seniors and students, at the door.
