THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay gas stations are getting filled up. After a two-day frenzy of shortages and frustration, brought on by “Tightness in supply” caused by market pressures, according to industry spokespersons, the worst of the shortages now appear to be over.

Stations across the region are getting supplies of gasoline and all stations should be alright by Monday at the latest.

NetNewsLedger contacted Imperial Oil and spokesperson Leanne Dohy said, “Imperial Oil’s supply network has the flexibility in it to try and meet unexpected needs. We have been using that flexibility to try to minimize the customer impact.”

Shell Canada spokesperson David R. Williams reported, “Due to logistical and weather related issues, we experienced short-term run-outs at some of our Retail sites in the Thunder Bay area. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused our customers and assure them this supply issue is temporary.”

Gas Price
The Weekend Gas Shortage did not cause prices to drop.

Across Thunder Bay and east toward Manitowadge, there were shortages, and times that gas stations simply ran out of gas. In many cases, stations were selling premium gas for the same price as regular.

Most Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario drivers took the situation in hand.

Persian Shortage?

On local social media, some people started joking about shortages of Persians, the LCBO running of of alcohol, and other bits of humour.

NetNewsLedger spoke with Mr. Joe Nucci of The Persian Man on this issue.

Mr. Nucci assures all Thunder Bay residents that there is no shortage of Persians. 🙂

It might however be a great idea to head over to The Persian Man to stock up for Christmas morning, and enjoy a little Thunder Bay tradition with your morning coffee on Christmas morning.
