THUNDER BAY – Sports News – The Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) have announced Thunder Bay North Stars rookie forward Daniel Delpaggio has been named Pizza Hut player of the week for the period concluding Dec. 8.
In two games during the week that was the first-year North Stars forward tallied five times and dished out a pair of assists helping his side earn a split in a two-game weekend set with the ever-improving English River Miners.

He began by notching a hat-trick in an 8-6 setback vs. the Miners on Friday and followed that up tacking on two more markers along with a pair of assists, including setting up the game winner in a 5-1 victory over English River Saturday at the Fort William Gardens.
On the season the 17-year-old Thunder Bay product leads the North Stars in offensive production with 40 points in just 20 games on 15 tallies and 25 assists.
His totals place him third in SIJHL scoring and he also tops the league in point-per-game average at 2.00.
Delpaggio, who represented the SIJHL at last month’s CJHL Prospects Games in Nova Scotia, is currently riding a five-game point streak and has also got on the score sheet in 14 of his past 15 outings.
Also receiving consideration for Pizza Hut player of the week were A.J. Rupert, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Ryan Ferguson, (G) Fort Frances Lakers; Dominic Blouin, (F) English River Miners; Chris Varrin, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs and Shane Billings, (F) Wisconsin Wilderness.
At the conclusion of the regular season the SIJHL’s most valuable player will be presented the Pizza Hut player of the year award and will also go on to be the league’s representative for the national Canadian Junior Hockey League player of the year trophy.
