Imagine Peace – John Lennon

NEW YORK – Entertainment News – John Lennon was murdered on December 8, thirty-three years ago today. An obsessive fan shot the famous member of The Beatles outside of his apartment in New York City.

Thirty years ago there was no Internet, no cell phones, and most Americans learned of the murder and the terrible news from Howard Cosell the Monday Night Football commentator.

The murder of John Lennon changed many lives. The musician was on the comeback trail with a new album, and a song, Starting Over that was making its way up the hit parade.

At the time there was speculation that The Beatles could one day reunite. The assassination of John Lennon ended that dream.

John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono has over the past years preferred to celebrate John Lennon’s birthday rather than the date of his assassination.

Lennon, is remembered by millions around the world for his music and his views of peace.

Imagine – John Lennon

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
