Charges Stem from Northwood Accident

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police have laid 13 charges following the investigation of an accident in Northwood. 

The charges have been laid in relation to the collision that occurred early Friday morning at the James Street/William Street and Edward Street/Golf Links Road intersection.

The 24 year old male driver of a red Pontiac that ran a the red light according to police then fled the scene after the collision. The suspect was located a short time later near the intersection of Balmoral Street and William Street by police officers. He was arrested and taken to the hospital for medical attention and was then taken to the Balmoral Police Station.

The male driver has been charged with:
– 4 counts of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm
– 4 counts of Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm
– 4 counts of Fail to Stop at a Scene of an Accident Causing Bodily Harm
– Breach of Probation

He will remain in police custody awaiting a court appearance tomorrow.

The four individuals in the other vehicle were also taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
