THUNDER BAY – Sports – The Triad Contracting peewee Queens ended the weekend’s four-team Jamboree with a 2-2 overtime tie against the host Duluth Icebreakers. Playing in Duluth Minnesota, the Thunder Bay pee wee Queens made the city proud with their play.
Four minutes into the game, Jessie Scott fed a puck to Molly Kunnas who found back of the Icebreaker’s net.
Five minutes later, Jocelyn Wojciechowski, assisted by Brenna Nichol, added another marker giving the Queens a 2-0 lead.
Soon after the Icebreakers replied, beating Thunder Bay’s goalie Josée Robinson on a breakaway.
After a scoreless middle stanza the Icebreakers pulled even on another breakaway tally with 9:31 remaining.
At the end of regulation the two sides battled in a pair of five-minute OT session, but neither club would score as the contest ended in a 2-2 draw.
The Queens finished up with a 1-1-1 record in three outings dropping a narrow 3-2 decision to the Brainerd Warriors in their opener Saturday before rebounding in a 10-0 romp over the Proctor-Hermantown Mirage.
For Thunder Bay their next out of town action will be Nov. 22-24 as they travel to Blaine, Minn. for the annual All-American Girls tournament.
