THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay Queens will have a pair of clubs on the road this weekend competing with the Norcan Tours & Travel midget A squad heading to North Bay to take part in the OK Tire Blue Sky Classic while the Triad Contracting peewees are off to Duluth for a four-team jamboree against competition from Minnesota.
The trek to North Bay for the midget A Queens will mark the club’s first tournament of the season.
They’ll open up Friday when they take on Sudbury Lady Wolves at 12:30 p.m.
Game No. 2 of the day for Thunder Bay sees them tangling with the host North Bay Ice Boltz at 8:15 p.m.
Providing the opposition for the Queens in their final round robin contest will be the Timmins Falcons in a game that is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
Remaining match-ups after that will be determined on the results of their first three contests.
A total of six teams make up the midget A division in the tourney, which also features the Nepean Wildcats and the Bluewater Hawks from Strathroy, Ont.
As for the Triad peewees they’ll take to the ice twice Saturday in Duluth with match-ups vs. the Brainerd under-12 side at 11 a.m. CT followed by a 4:45 p.m. CT encounter with the Proctor-Hermantown Mirage.
The Queens then wrap-up play Sunday at 11:30 a.m. CT against the Duluth Icebreakers.
