TORONTO – Mayor Rob Ford in a blockbuster press conference stated today “I have smoked crack cocaine”. The Mayor made the admission during a press scrum today in Toronto City Hall. “Probably in one of my drunken stupors,” stated Ford. The Mayor has denied, up until today many times that he ever smoked crack cocaine.
Mayor Ford says that the incident happened a year ago.
The admission has come forward drawing in Premier Kathleen Wynne. Premier Wynne states that there are legal steps that can follow to take care of these types of political situations.
Toronto City Hall has been in turmoil for months now over allegations that the Mayor has smoked crack cocaine.
Some members of the Toronto City Council are calling for Mayor Ford to take a leave of absence to deal with this situation.
Earlier today, Doug Ford, the Mayor’s brother was out in the media calling for Toronto Chief of Police Blair to step aside.
The political fallout over this issue is likely to continue.
The admission now clears the Toronto Star who the ‘Ford Nation’ has repeatedly said was against the Mayor.
The media and the Mayor’s Office in Toronto have had a love hate relationship.
