Lakehead University Thunderwolves SportsWINNIPEG – The Lakehead University women’s basketball team lost 81-48 to the Regina Cougars on Saturday evening.

The Cougars pulled ahead after a quick back and forth in the first quarter and held their lead throughout.

Regina guard Nicole Clarke led the Cougars with 18 points.  Forward Katelyn Andrea led for Lakehead with 12 points.

Coach Jon Kreiner said,  “At times we played with Regina and I was happy with some of our execution but Regina is so consistent at what they do and have so much experience that they can really wear you down and make you look pretty bad at times. I was very happy with the development of some of our rookies, particularly Katelyn Andrea who played a very strong game and played with confidence. We need to improve our transition defence and get ready for another early morning game against Manitoba.”
The Thunderwolves are now 4-4 in preseason play.

The Shoot for the Cure tournament continues Sunday at Investors Group Athletic Centre (U of Manitoba campus).

Lakehead plays Manitoba Sunday at 11 am ET. Webcast will be available via CanadaWestTV
