DULUTH – Business – Exciting news at Lake Superior Magazine. The Duluth based magazine received a Gold Award. The popular magazine chronicles the Greatest Great Lake, Lake Superior.

Competing against magazines from across the United States and Canada, Lake Superior Magazine received a Gold Award from the International Regional Magazine Association during the 33rd Annual IRMA Awards, presented at this year’s annual IRMA conference in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 30.

 

The award was presented for the year’s best Environmental Feature story, which appeared in the magazine’s February/March 2012 issue. The feature “Wild About Weather,” written by Editor Konnie LeMay, appeared as the magazine’s annual State of the Lake report to its readers.

Konnie and company president Cindy Hayden accepted the award from Samir “Mr. Magazine” Husni, director of the Magazine Innovation Center at the University of Mississippi School of Journalism, who conducted the judging and also hosted the program.

Lake Superior Magazine has been bringing stories of the Big Lake to readers since 1979. Published by Lake Superior Port Cities Inc., the magazine remains part of the family-owned business based in Duluth, Minnesota, with an outlet store and office at 310 E. Superior St.
