Telus Opens New Generation Store in Thunder Bay’s Intercity Mall

THUNDER BAY – The market for wireless phones in Thunder Bay has continued to widen. Tbaytel now faces challenges from Bell, Virgin, and Telus. Telus has just opened their newest Next Generation store in Intercity Mall.

The store is a complete shift in look from most wireless stores. There is almost no paper in the store, there is a crisp clean look to the store, and there is a charging station where you can plug in your wireless phone to charge up the battery. Coming soon is the Telus school so that new wireless phone customers can get one on one training on how to use their new devices.

Joe Goodbaum, Senior Vice-President and President, TELUS Retail Limited talked with James Murray from NetNewsLedger about the new store in Thunder Bay. Here is the interview…

The shift in technology is, according to Goodbaum one that requires a change in the thinking for companies in today’s marketplace.

Telus is looking at Thunder Bay as one of its top cities, and the opening of the new next generation store is just an indication of the company’s new direction.

As an aside, Telus has also agreed to ship some of its mascot panda bears up north to Fort Severn Ontario, the most northern community in Ontario to the Healthy Babies program.
