Flood Watch Issued for Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – The Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Watch. The outlook for possible flood conditions is for Thunder Bay, Neebing, Oliver Paipoonge and Shuniah. Dorion, O’Connor, Gillies and Conmee are also included.

The latest radar image illustrates the potential problem the area faces. The storm according to the weather service at Environment Canada will drop between 50 – 70mm of rain on the region.

Areas Impacted

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Dryden – Ignace
  • Fort Frances – Rainy Lake
  • Atikokan – Upsala – Quetico
  • Superior West
  • Nipigon – Marathon – Superior North
  • Wawa – White River – Pukaskwa.

This area of showers will move to the east, reaching regions along the North Shore of Lake Superior this evening and overnight.

There is still a chance that some of the embedded thunderstorms may reach severe limits with hail up to 2 cm and wind gusts up to 90 km/h.
