Thunder Bay Police – Friday Night Fights

THUNDER BAY – Crime – Thunder Bay Police were busy over the past twenty four hours. There were five weapons offences along with twelve assaults, and thirty-five calls for service for alcohol related offences. The total number of calls in the twenty-four hour period was 229 calls for service. Police were kept busy with alcohol related crimes, and assaults.

Weekends and fights fuelled by alcohol remain a Thunder Bay combination.

The crime docket included a weapons offence call  in the 600 Block of Victoria Avenue at 12:52EDT.

There was an assault in the 400 Block of George Street at 21:23EDT.

Thunder Bay Police also had three liquor offences to deal with near the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition Grounds.

There were also five domestic disputes recorded.

The police were out in force in the downtown Fort William Business District in the early morning hours. Keeping a strong police presence appears to make a positive difference in the incidents level and severity of incidences in the downtown.
